Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City (Matthew Desmond)

In between undergrad and grad school, I worked for a government contractor that processed rent reasonableness requests for Chicago Public Housing landlords. That this was a full-time job in metro Atlanta is covered by other history and policy books. But this book is an excellent explanation of housing policies and their impacts on people.
